Fascia is a thin casing of connective tissue that surrounds and holds every organ, blood vessel, bone, nerve fibre and muscle in place. This tissue provides internal structure but it also has nerves that make it almost as sensitive as the skin. When stressed it tightens up.
Fascia acts like a shock absorber to the body. It can be impacted by injury and by stored emotions in the body. Myofascial release involves applying gentle sustained pressure onto the tissue restrictions to eliminate pain and restore motion.
